The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced a notable increase in tourist arrivals during the first quarter of 2026, reflecting renewed traveler confidence and sustained efforts to promote the Philippines as a safe and diverse travel destination.
According to preliminary data, international visitor arrivals grew by over 18 percent compared to the same period last year, while domestic travel continues to show steady growth. Popular destinations such as Palawan, Boracay, Cebu, and Siargao recorded higher occupancy rates, particularly during long weekends and holiday periods.
Tourism Secretary emphasized that the growth is driven by improved airport connectivity, enhanced tourism services, and intensified promotional campaigns in key markets across Asia, Europe, and North America.
The DOT also highlighted the positive impact on local communities, with increased employment opportunities and higher revenues for small tourism-related businesses.
With more festivals, cruise ship arrivals, and international events scheduled in the coming months, the department remains optimistic that tourism performance will continue to improve throughout the year.
